Known locally as the Zytglogge, the present tower dates from the 15th Century. The clock is a replacement of an older timepiece, and has been operating since 1530. The little mechanical figures of the cities heraldic bears, a cock and a jester make it a charming sight.

The three famous papers which cemented Albert Einstein's legend were written while he was a patent office expert in Bern . His house here has been transformed into a memorial museum to the greatest scientist of the 20th Century.

This church is built on the spot of an old castle. The historical church was first built in 1341 and has been added to over the years.

The Nydegg Bridge is located at strategically, near the Nydeggkirche. It is at the confluence of Bern 's three main thoroughfares. Across the bridge is the Bear Pit. Sunken into the ground near the bridgehead, the pit has housed bears since the 16th Century. Bears are the symbols of the city of Bern .

Bern 's cathedral holds the distinction of having the highest church tower in Switzerland . The sculpture depicting the "Last Judgement" placed over the portal of the main entrance is regarded as one of the finest examples of late Gothic sculpture in Europe today.
